Fuji Electric Holdings Co. (6504.TO) said Thursday that it will sign an agreement with General Electric Co. (GE) later in the day to create a joint venture to develop and produce smart power meters in Japan.
"We are finalizing the deal and are just about to sign the joint venture agreement," said a Fuji Electric spokesman. He said that the company will announce the agreement, likely in a joint statement with GE, at 0400 GMT.
The spokesman added that Fuji Electric will hold more than 50% of the joint venture, but the size of their investment in the joint venture is still undetermined.
